For the first time the Wye Valley School has won the accolade of being the U14 Boys ‘Buckinghamshire Schools County Cup’ football champions after a stunning victory over rival and local school John Hampden. The final was held on neutral ground allowing the boys to experience a professional football pitch at Thame United Football Club. It was hotly contested and a really exciting action packed game to watch. Wye Valley took the lead but then conceded a penalty. This was followed by a break away goal by John Hampden late in the second half. But with the last kick of the game (in normal time) we were saved from defeat when we scored a superb goal to make the score 2-2, forcing the game into extra time. Extra time saw the ball travel rapidly from end to end as each team went all out to win, with Wye Valley managing again to score that all important final goal just seconds before the final whistle went. The match was well supported by both schools staff, pupils and parents. Thanks to all involved and, of course, especially to Mr Bunker- our Football Manager.
